AUGUST 2016 FEATURED ENTERTAINMENT:

52 Fridays Concert Series in the Gordie Brown Showroom

Golden Nugget Las Vegas has raised the standard for entertainment in downtown Las Vegas hosting the 52 Fridays Concert Series. The resort presents a diverse lineup of acts, from GRAMMY award-winning artists and Country Music Hall of Famers to classic rock bands and R&B singers. Ricky Nelson Remembered: Starring Matthew & Gunnar Nelson - August 5 - 8 p.m.

More than 25 years ago, singing sensation Ricky Nelson died in a plane crash. Through his sons, his musical legacy lives on with the tribute concert "Ricky Nelson Remembered." Matthew and Gunnar Nelson, Ricky's twin sons, are triple platinum recording artists in their own right. "After the Rain" was the hit debut album by Nelson, the band Matthew and Gunnar led in the early '90s. They zoomed to number one with "(I Can't Live Without Your) Love and Affection," which landed the Nelson family in the Guinness Book of World Records as the only family to reach number one record status in three successive generations.

The Buckinghams - August 12 - 8 p.m.

After changing their name from The Pulsations to The Buckinghams to reflect the British Invasion craze, this American Sunshine pop group became an overnight sensation. The group put out the wistful "Kind of a Drag," which ending up being a million-selling pop chart-topper. Other major hits for the band include "Don't You Care," "Hey Baby (They're Playing Our Song)," and the pseudo-psychedelic "Susan." The group showed off their R&B roots on the jazz standard "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy," their second-biggest hit.

Paul Revere's Raiders with Mitch Ryder - August 19 - 8 p.m.

"The show must go on." That's what late musician Paul Revere said to all the members of his band of merry musicians, his Raiders, in the final months of 2014 when doctors ordered him to stop all the demands of road trips. Continuing the tradition will be long-time members Doug Heath, Ron Foos & Danny Krause, Paul Revere's equally amazing son, Jamie Revere, multi-talented singer and former 10-year member of the Letterman, Darren Dowler, and powerhouse drummer, Tommy Scheckel, who was a member of The Buckinghams for 27 years. Mitch Ryder from "Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels" opens this amazing show.

Gary Lewis & The Playboys - August 26 - 8 p.m.

Gary Lewis & The Playboys were an American '60s era pop and rock group, fronted by musician Gary Lewis, the son of comedian Jerry Lewis. They are best known for their 1965 Billboard Hot 100 number-one single "This Diamond Ring," which was the first of a string of hit singles they had in 1965 and 1966. The band had an earnest, boy-next-door image similar to British invasion contemporaries such as Herman's Hermits and Gerry and the Pacemakers. The group folded in 1970, but a version of the band later resumed touring and continues to tour, often playing for veteran's benefits.

Downtown's favorite pool party, Night Swim at Golden Nugget Las Vegas will return for a summer of blockbuster events. The Tank, which Travel Channel ranks as one of the most extreme pools in the world, will feature themed parties, live entertainment, and movie screenings.

Blend Night Swim - August 4 - 7 p.m. - midnight

Get loud and proud at the only nighttime LGBT pool party in Las Vegas, where DJs spin the hottest beats while guests enjoy food and drink specials poolside.

Olympic Night Swim - August 5 - 7 p.m. - midnight

Go for the gold! Celebrate the opening of the Summer 2016 Olympics poolside with drink specials and giveaways.

Family Movie Night - August 19 - 8 p.m.

Drift Downtown Art and Music Showcase - August 24 - 8 p.m.

Experience a showcase of local talent, which includes pioneers in art and music. Live bands and DJs will provide the music, while guests experience art exhibitions poolside. Proceeds benefit The Tyler Robinson Foundation.
