Saturday afternoon at The Cornelia Street Café just got a lot more fun with the addition of award-winning playwright/director/actor Francesca Rizzo's outrageously honest and funny play -- DAMES LIKE US.

Rizzo transforms into Sofia, the Argentinian bikini-waxer who is the take-no-prisoners proprietress of Salon de Sofia -- a fictional NYC salon & spa.

She is joined by a revolving cast of four top New York character actors as they all move from wig to wig and persona to persona, transforming themselves into a series of hilarious characters drawn from life; beauty technicians and their diverse clientele, real women with surprising pasts, sturdy opinions and enduring passions.

Outrageously honest as it is funny, the play touches on some taboo hotspots, sexual, political and otherwise, pulling back the curtain on what's really said in the company of dames.

Cast includes: Ivy Austin, Deirdre Brennan, Susanna Dalton, Mary Elaine Monti, Ardes Quinn, Maureen Shannon, and Andrea Weston.

DAMES LIKE US is fresh and topical with its innovative structure of adding in new material, rotating characters and cast -- so it's the kind of show you can come back to see again and again.

Show time is at 2:00pm, Saturday, April 30th at The Cornelia Street Café, 29 Cornelia Street in the West Village. Admission is $20.00 and includes a drink. The Cornelia Street Café is a landmark bistro that has traditionally opened its doors to artists of all genres and has been the launch place for artists like singer-songwriter Suzanne Vega, as well as Eve Ensler and The Vagina Monologues. The Cornelia Street Café presents more than 700 shows a year.
