Legendary leading ladies Elizabeth Taylor, Greta Garbo, Rita Hayworth and Barbra Streisand are featured in the July Reel 13 schedule. Tonight, watch Funny Girl with Streisand!

The 1968 movie adaptation of the Broadway musical, Funny Girl, sealed Barbra Streisand's rise to superstardom in the 1960's. Streisand was not the automatic first choice for the role of Fanny Brice on stage, with other names including Anne Bancroft, Eydie Gorme, and Carol Burnett first discussed for the role. The film version went on to garner eight Academy Award nominations, including one for "Best Picture." Streisand tied for "Best Actress" with Katharine Hepburn in The Lion in Winter.

Every Saturday night beginning at 9 p.m., viewers can catch a Hollywood Classic followed by an Indie, presented by Columbia University professor Richard Peña. The evening concludes with a Short film selected by viewers who vote for their favorite of three shorts at Reel13.org.
