Ypsilanti, MI - Emergent Arts will present The Improv Mixer, two evenings of improvisational comedy, February 28 and March 1, at The Mix Studio Theater in downtown Ypsilanti. Groups featured will be Hexagonal Knife Fight, Harem of Handsome, and Gut Shot on Friday February 28 and Damage Control on Saturday March 1.

Hexagonal Knife Fight will perform The Harold with monologues, featuring Michael Babbish, Gary Lehman, Emily Engelhart, Jeremy Gragg, Jake Russell, Sean Robinson, and Lorin Kozlowski.

Harem of Handsome will create a Dating Game structure that breaks into a montage of scenes, with Tom Novik, Jeremy St. Martin, Kevin Lytle, and James Cerini.

Gut Shot will enact a montage of scenes from Luke Legere and veteran improvisational comic Jason Valentini, who, with the group RARRR won at the Planet Ant 2013 Colony Fest.

Damage Control consists of Allen Smock, Autumn Waters, Chelsey Mellon, and Jeff Lehman, who met at the Go U: Improv Academy in Ferndale and have been improvising together since 2012. The show starts with an audience suggestion, inspiring a collection of improvised character monologues. Then, using themes and characters established in the opening monologues, the troupe creates longer, interweaving scenes that sometimes tell a larger story, but other times spiral into controlled absurdity.

All performances run at The Mix Studio Theatre, 8 N. Washington Street, Ypsilanti, MI. Featuring: Hexagonal Knife Fight, Harem of Handsome, and Gut Shot- February 28 at 8pm; Damage Control- March 1 at 8 pm. E-mail: info@emergentarts.com for additional info. Admission: All tickets $8.
