Daniel C. Levine Joins Ridgefield Playhouse's Artistic Board

The Ridgefield Playhouse has announced the addition of Daniel C. Levine to its Artistic Advisory Board. Daniel will head up the Playhouse Broadway & Cabaret Series, expanding this iconic theater's vision of bringing the highest level of entertainment and performers to the greater Ridgefield community. Daniel has performed on Broadway and in Broadway National Tours of LES MISERABLES, Mamma Mia!, Jesus Christ Superstar, Little Shop of Horrors, Chicago, The Rocky Horror Show, and Tommy. He is the creator and producer of "Broadway Backstage!" and "Gotta Dance!", and, along with his husband Bryan Perri (music director of Broadway's smash hit Wicked) reside in Ridgefield, CT. Levine's new show, "Gotta Dance!", will be center stage at the Playhouse on Friday, May 8.

"The Ridgefield Playhouse is a gem of a theater and a true staple of our community. I am beyond excited to bring more of 'Broadway' to The Playhouse. In heading up the "Broadway & Cabaret Series", my goal is to cast a wider net in terms of the types of theatrical acts presented at The Ridgefield Playhouse. I plan on bringing TONY Award winning performers to The Playhouse for incredible concert work, as well as presenting concert versions of hit Broadway musicals (along with the stars of those shows). We have some amazing things planned," commented Daniel C. Levine.

Since The Ridgefield Playhouse opened its doors 15 years ago, sold-out audiences have enjoyed legendary artists including Peter Yarrow, Marcel Marceau, Barbara Cook, Moscow Boys Choir, Joan Baez, Judy Collins, Natalie Cole and The Bacon Brothers and, more recently, Willie Nelson, Bernie Williams, Glenn Miller Orchestra, Steve Tyrell, Michael Feinstein, Gregg Allman, Clint Black, The Doobie Brothers, Brian Wilson, Diana Krall, LeAnn Rimes and numerous other famous performers. Film buffs have been able to get up-close-and-personal with movie industry greats such as Ron Howard, Harvey Keitel, Tim Robbins, Charles Grodin and Barry Levinson through the Playhouse Film Society events, which screens both feature and documentary films. Special community shows and happenings such as the Ridgefield High School Orchestra Concert, the Annual Town Meeting, Martin Luther King, Jr. celebrations and dance studio recitals have found a new home in The Ridgefield Playhouse. Children have felt the power of the performing arts firsthand at musical and theatrical events that entertain while teaching life's lessons. Comedians such as Martin Short, Dana Carvey, Paula Poundstone, Whoopie Goldberg Jackie Mason, Joan Rivers, Kathy Griffen, Robert Klein, Ron White and many others have been making audiences laugh at the Playhouse, while respected speakers such as Ira Glass, David Sedaris, and Stephen Sondheim have shared their insight and journey.
