According to Deadline, former LATE LATE SHOW host Craig Ferguson has signed on to lead ABC's upcoming comedy pilot KING OF 7B.

Written by Howard Franklin and directed by David Frankel, the project "focuses on Prentiss Porter (Ferguson), an agoraphobic recluse who ventures outside for the first time in 11 years when he spies what could be his soul-mate moving into the building across the street. Ben Karlin who, like Ferguson, has extensive late-night show background from his tenure on The Daily Show, is the showrunner."

Ferguson, who recently chose to step down from his acclaimed ten-year run as host of the Emmy-nominated and Peabody Award-winning The Late Late Show, has also delighted audiences as a stand-up comedian, writer, actor, director, author, producer and voice artist in a career spanning film, television and the stage. He has enjoyed great success on the North American comedy circuit, most recently performing his highly praised stand-up at New York City's Radio City Music Hall and Carnegie Hall to sold out audiences.

Ferguson's work includes three widely acclaimed stand-up comedy specials: A Wee Bit O' Revolution for Comedy Central, Does This Need To Be Said for Epix, and I'm Here to Help, which premiered on Netflix in 2013 and earned him a Grammy nomination for Best Comedy Album.

Ferguson's acting credits include his performance as Nigel Wick in The Drew Carey Show and his role as 'Gobber' in the popular films How to Train Your Dragon and How to Train Your Dragon 2. He wrote the feature films The Big Tease and Saving Grace and made his directorial debut with I'll Be There, which he also starred in and wrote. Ferguson has also written two novels, Between The Bridge and The River, which became a critically acclaimed bestseller, and his memoir, American On Purpose, which appeared on the New York Times bestseller list.
