Comedian and commentator Jimmy Tingle offers his satirical yet hopeful take on the people and issues facing the nation in the age of President Trump.

Commenting on issues ranging from the new cabinet, climate change, the media and fake news, to the border wall, black lives matter, and the technology that drives us nuts, Tingle aspires to lighten the national mood and make a social impact in his stand up comedy show "Humor for Humanity: Jimmy Tingle in the Age of Trump" on February 4th at Harvard University's Sanders Theatre.

"'Humor for Humanity' will make us laugh, make us think, and hopefully make us feel better as we proceed into 2017 and beyond," explains Tingle, a three-decade comedian, writer, activist, and entrepreneur who rose up from the Boston comedy boom that spawned Steven Wright, Denis Leary, Bobcat Goldthwait, Paula Poundstone, and Barry Crimmins to the national comedy scene on CBS's "60 Minutes II," The Tonight Show, CNN, "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," and HBO.

Through the February 4th "Humor for Humanity" show, Tingle will use his comedy chops to raise spirits, funds, and awareness for several local nonprofits engaged in such social issues as substance abuse, homelessness, immigrant rights, youth literacy, international peace and justice, independent journalism, women's leadership, adult education, and the arts.

For the Sanders show, Tingle partners with 20 Boston-based nonprofit organizations including the Harvard Kennedy School of Government's New England Alumni Association, of which he is a member, in a revenue sharing arrangement. When a patron purchases tickets using the organization's promotional code listed on the organization's website, Tingle donates $10 per ticket to that nonprofit. (The code MUST be used when purchasing tickets to make the donation.)

"In our media and live events, our mission is their mission," says Tingle.

A full listing of the partnering organizations and their websites are posted at JimmyTingle.com.

"Humor for Humanity" runs Saturday, February 4th at 8PM at Sanders Theatre at Harvard University (45 Quincy Street in Cambridge). Tickets ($25, $30, and $35) and information about free parking are available at the Harvard Box Office, by phone at 617-496-2222, or in person at the Harvard Box Office at Farkas Hall at 10 Holyoke Street in Cambridge (no service fees for in-person sales at the Harvard Box Office).
