Comedian Jim Norton Pays Tribute to Robin Williams in TIME.com Op-Ed

Comedian, radio personality, actor and New York Times bestselling author Jim Norton penned a moving op-ed regarding the passing of Robin Williams on TIME.com titled, "Why the Funniest People Are Sometimes the Saddest."

Norton reflects on relating and interacting with Williams, Williams' influence on his fellow comedians, battling his own suicidal thoughts and the evolution of comedy "from happy-go-lucky pie-in-the-face jesters to the stuff of the deeply personal and honest with the coming of Lenny Bruce, Richard Pryor and George Carlin" and how "the public began to see, through brilliant material and public battles with personal demons, that the people who made them laugh the hardest seemed to be enjoying life the least."
