The initial success Mencia earned early in his career on the standup comedy circuit and from being crowned "International Comedy Grand Champion" ofBuscando Estrellas (the Latino version of Star Search) led to appearances on In Living Color, The Arsenio Hall Show, Moesha and An Evening at the Improv. He then went on to star in his own original Comedy Central stand-up special, Carlos Mencia: No Strings Attached, which was the first DVD in its category to achieve Platinum sales status. Mencia's latest standup special, New Territory, aired in December 2011.

In 2005, Comedy Central signed Mencia to star, write and executive produce his own show on the network Mind of Mencia. The series aired for five seasons, becoming one of the strongest shows in Comedy Central history and making Mencia a household name.

In 2007, he went on to star in the hit feature film, "The Heartbreak Kid," and starred in "Our Family Wedding" in 2010. Mencia has since gone back to his comedic roots, performing at a number of comedy venues throughout the country, allowing him to share his newest material with smaller and more intimate audiences.
