Canadian Comic Elvira Kurt to Headline Gallo Center, 4/25

Elvira Kurt, host of the television game show "Spin Off" in her native Canada and an alumnus of the "Second City" improvisational comedy troupe, will make her debut performance at the Gallo Center for the Arts on Friday, April 25, at 8 pm.

Tickets for Kurt's show, which contains adult themes, are $25, $35 and $45, and may be purcahsed online at www.galloarts.org, by calling (209) 338-2100 or from the Gallo Center ticket office at 1000 I Street in downtown Modesto. Groups of 15 people or more receive a 15% discount on ticket prices. More information about group sales is available by calling (209) 338-5062.

Prior to hosting her game show, Kurt starred in "Popcultured!", a variation on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" which aired on The Comedy Network in Canada. In the U. S., Kurt has appeared on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and her comedy specials have aired on Comedy Central, HBO and Showtime.

A native of Toronto who is openly Lesbian, Kurt was voted 'Funniest Female Comic' at the Canadian Comedy Awards. She starred in The Comedy Network series, "Elvira Kurt: Adventures in Comedy," performed live in "The Vagina Monologues," hosted "Cream of Comedy 2004" for The Comedy Network, and she's a frequent guest on gay and lesbian shows.
