Camp Broadway Kids to Return to New York Pops 34th Birthday Gala for 10th Year

The Camp Broadway Kids, a musical theatre ensemble comprised of 60 theatre-loving kids, ages 12-16, will be featured at The New York Pops 34th Birthday Gala at Carnegie Hall on Monday, May 1, 2017.

Making their tenth appearance at this annual star-studded event, the Camp Broadway Kids will perform under the baton of New York Pops Music Director Steven Reineke. The benefit concert will also feature Matthew Broderick, Jason Robert Brown, Danny Burstein, Brian D'Arcy James, Adam Kantor, Ruthie Ann Miles, Nico Muhly, Laura Osnes, Steven Pasquale, Chris Sullivan, and Paul Szot.

Now in its 22nd year, Camp Broadway LLC is the award-winning industry leader in presenting experiential theater-arts based enrichment programs for children. Camp Broadway's 60-member cast, selected from a national audition of over 500 amateur performers, will make their Carnegie Hall debut at the culmination of a three-day rehearsal featuring master classes in vocal performance, dancing and acting under the direction Camp Broadway's creative team including, Director / Choreographer Cynthia Thole (Broadway credits include Me and My Girl, Singin' in the Rain, 42nd Street, My Fair Lady, and, Meet Me in St. Louis) and Music Director Christine Riley (National Tour; Thoroughly Modern Millie).

The Camp Broadway Kids hail from 25 states and represent 57 cities in the United States, as well as Bermuda and Puerto Rico.

CAMP BROADWAY LLC was founded in 1995 and is recognized as Broadway's "original" summer camp. The company's mission is to make theatre arts an accessible and relevant way for creative children to build confidence, hone presentation skills, and discover their unique talents at every stage of their lives. Camp Broadway is now a respected industry leader in audience engagement and a trusted source for parents and teachers seeking quality year-round enrichment programs, experiential events and educational workshops. Steven Reineke is the Music Director and Conductor of The New York Pops at Carnegie Hall, Principal Pops Conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Principal Pops Conductor of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, and the Principal Pops Conductor Designate for the Houston Symphony beginning in the 2017 - 2018 season. Mr. Reineke is a frequent guest conductor with The Philadelphia Orchestra and has been on the podium with the Boston Pops, The Cleveland Orchestra and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at Ravinia. His extensive North American conducting appearances include San Francisco, Houston, Seattle, Edmonton and Pittsburgh.
