Knighton's reports will be featured every other week on the #1 Sunday morning news program. Over the course of the year, which coincides with the National Park Service's 100th anniversary, Knighton will visit all 59 national parks.

"All this year, I'll be heading out ON THE TRAIL, traveling the country, telling some of the stories behind our national parks," Knighton says.

Knighton begins his journey at Acadia National Park, which from October to early March is the first place to see the sunrise in the continental United States. Knighton was on hand along with a group of other intrepid visitors to Acadia as the sun came up on New Year's Day.

From Acadia, he'll continue on to Mammoth Cave National Park and on across America.

Subaru of America, the official automotive partner of the National Park Service Centennial, is the exclusive sponsor of Knighton's ON THE TRAIL segments and is providing him with a Subaru Outback for the trip.

CBS SUNDAY MORNING is broadcast Sundays (9:00-10:30 AM, ET) on the CBS Television Network. Rand Morrison is the executive producer.
