CAMELOT to Open in June at Royal Theatre

The Royal Players and Everett Buick GMC will present Camelot at the Royal Theatre June 9-12 and 16-19. Camelot is a musical by Alan Jay Lerner (book and lyrics) and Frederick Loewe (music). It is based on the King Arthur legend as adapted from the T. H. White novel The Once and Future King. The original 1960 production, directed by Moss Hart and orchestrated by Robert Russell Bennett and Philip J. Lang, ran on Broadway for 873 performances, winning four Tony Awards and spawning several revivals, foreign productions, and the 1967 film. The original cast album was America's top-selling LP for 60 weeks. The musical has become associated with the Kennedy Administration, which is sometimes referred the Camelot era.

The Royal production is directed by D. Brent Miller with music direction by Valerie Couch and choreography by Reagan Hammonds. Assistant director is Matthew Burnett. Ashley Couch portrays Queen Guinevere to Harold Dean's King Arthur. Kevin Crumpler completes the triangle as Lancelot. Other cast members are Greg Blacklaw, Hannah Blacklaw, Megan Bowers, Jeff Brown, Joshua M. Brown, Matthew Burnett, Matt Cerino, Annslee Clay, Nathan Clay, Tony Clay, Stormy Donham, Luke Ferguson, Izzy Hammonds, Tessa Irvin, Misty Jezierski, Matthew McCallister, Isabelle Marchese, Destiny Marchese, Makayla Shipe.

Thursday through Saturday shows start at 7 p.m. and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 adult, $10 senior and military, $5 students and may be bought online at theroyalplayers.com in June. Reservations may be made at 501-315-5483. Theater address is 111 S. Market in Benton.
