BWW Reviews: INSERT FOOT THEATRE
Comedy, Boise, Insert Foot Theatre, Improv
The Reef is a restaurant/bar suitable for any age. INSERT FOOT THEATRE does their improv at different locations and tonight it was at The Reef. The show started at 9:00pm, so my daughter and I got a grasshopper pie for desert. The Reef has a stage, which helped more of the audience be able to see the performance. The improv-ers were very visible even to the back of the restaurant.
The format that INSERT FOOT THEATRE uses is similar to "Who's Line Is It Anyways?". They have an announcer who gave the rules (and who will play a game or two later) and explains some of the intricacies of the game. He lets the audience know that the pressure for a fun night is on the audience and not on the performers. If the audience does not feed the performance, the performance will not fill the hunger of the audience. Tonight, all appetites were full.
There is one other rule that applies to the audience, the announcer will announce the name of the game they are to play and then the cast, and then the audience is supposed to respond with the name of the game. This is so that everyone knows what game is going to be played but also helps the audience become a part of the show.
They played many games that were recognizable and they did one that was new to them let alone the audience. There was "New Choice", "Lines from a Helm (hat)", "Sing It", a game they called "Revolver" and the new one was a 30 minutes long story improv they called "Story, Story Undead".
The best line of the night was not what it is going to sound like, but it was "It's creepy when you kiss my balls." It was a fun night and there was laughter throughout the whole night. I would definitely recommend you catch them some night. They have set up a new format as well, where it is pay-what-you-can. They want to do all they can to help spread comedy around Boise and they do. I will consider myself a member of "The Foot Clan" now.
