BWW Recap: SUPERNATURAL Clicks Its Heals and Repeats 'There's No Place Like Home'

There's no place like home. There's no place like home. There's no place like home. This week's episode of SUPERNATURAL had returned Charlie from her path down the yellow brick road, hell-bent on torture. A striking difference from the lovable, hacker Charlie the audience had grown to love.

Dean and Sam were on their own mission, continuously researching how to rid of Dean's demonic tramp stamp when Sam came across a video of Charlie getting her torture on.

Although Dean claimed he had wrangled in his urges, the Winchester was still shaky with a knife in his hand. The brothers packed up and headed to investigate Charlie's assaults. Each of Charlie's victims were tied directly to her parent's drunk driving accident, but when the boys came face-to-face with Charlie, all they found was a shell of the girl they had once met; no more excitement and desire to be apart of the Winchester clan. She was someone different. As Charlie held her own against Dean, she was able to escape, slashing the Winchester car's tires and taking off. At the same time, a little yellow car was pulling up and it was Charlie? The old Charlie we knew and loved?

Apparently Charlie's trip to Oz had rendered two physical Charlie's, the good and the bad. She had taken part in the war for Emerald City and in the process made a deal with the Wizard of Oz, which unlocked her evil id. While dark Charlie only presented the destructive sides of her, good Charlie was too sweet, unable to even have a drink and hack into computers. There was no traveling back to Oz, as the key had been broken. While Sam and good Charlie explored the bunker for more answers to repairing the key, Dean pursued dark Charlie's next target.

Sam and good Charlie had tracked down a retired member of the Men of Letters that could potentially fix the key. Dean had successfully hunted down dark Charlie, who proceeded to murder the man that caused her parent's accident. Dark Charlie justified her actions; exclaiming Dean had no right to judge and leaving him at the bar, driving off with his beloved car.

Sam and Charlie learned that there was no fixing the key to Oz and the retired Men of Letters, Clive, had been through the same ordeal as Charlie; in fact, his dark side now ran Oz as the Wizard. Clive shot himself to release the Wizard of Oz into their realm. While the Wizard held Sam and good Charlie hostage, Dean fought outside with dark Charlie. No matter which Charlie, they could both feel the pain Dean was inflicting.

Good Charlie gave in and picked up the gun, ending Clive's life, both of his lives. Outside, Dean had beaten dark Charlie to the point of unconsciousness and Sam carried out good Charlie, laying them down next to each other. Sam gave good Charlie the key, allowing her to merge with her darker side and become whole again.

Dean felt horrible for the pain he had caused Charlie, unable to forgive himself. But Charlie could, asking him to prove his sorrow by helping himself. Charlie bid the brothers "arrivederci, bitches," and Sam and Dean continued their work to rid of the Mark of Cain.

Things we need to discuss:

- I couldn't bear the idea of Charlie becoming evil or a demon. I was happy to know she was able to return herself. The sister/brother relationship she holds with the Winchesters has always been one of my favorite apects of the show.

- Dean's ability to stop himself from causing anymore harm to Charlie was a step towards his own redemption, but it feels like we're still driving on the highway to one long recovery and answer to ridding of the Mark. I enjoy seeing glimpses of a darker Dean, but how many times can he repeat his actions before it becomes trite?

- Out of all the crazy and cheesy places SPN has traveled to, I'm not sure if I could take an episode of the Winchesters ever taking their own trip into Oz.
