Lisa Jackson has travelled the globe searching for extraordinary examples of rare fine art. During her career, her exacting eye and vision for detail established Jackson as a go-to interior designer. Her celebrity clients have included names such as Renee Zellweger, Vera Wang, Tory Burch and Michael J. Fox.

In 1996, Jackson launched Lisa Jackson Ltd., an interior design firm with its own signature furniture line and tabletop business. Business flourished and her reputation grew; in 2006 Jackson purchased Lucca & Co, where she also took on the role of both CEO and designer at the brand, creating a signature line to be sold along with a well-edited inventory of international antiques, made to measure furniture, and decorative and fine arts.

Delving into the world fine jewelry seemed like the next natural step. In February 2014, Jackson unveiled LJ Cross, her stylish line of cross earrings and necklaces at Phoenix Roze on Madison Avenue, Sabbia at The Ritz Carlton in Key Biscayne and JANGEORGe in East Hampton. Her first LJ Cross flagship store opened in October 2014 on Madison Avenue. Her designs are also sold at select Saks Fifth Avenue locations across the country and on an e-commerce website at www.ljcrossny.com.

Lisa was inspired to create LJ Cross as a way to pay homage to her late brother Steven, who often wore one or more crosses at a time. Each of her designs features the ancient, iconic fashion symbol, which predates Christianity and was found drawn on cave walls dating back to the Stone Age.

Whether it is a beautifully crafted, minimalist cross starting at $1,200, or a grand statement piece featuring large gemstones, organic pearls and halos of diamonds priced at $100,000, Jackson has created something to fit each of her discerning clientele's individual style.

A native New Yorker, Lisa Jackson lives with her family in Manhattan and also has a home in the Hamptons. In addition to launching her new business, Jackson is currently attending Harvard Business School's Executive Program. She received her Masters of Business Administration from New York University's Stern School of Business and her BA from New York University.

Broadwayworld.com had an opportunity to interview Lisa Jackson about her career and her company.

When did you first realize your sense of creativity?

It's in my DNA.

Tell me a little about the challenge of making the transition from interior design to fine jewelry.

Design is a process that I love. It's all about scale, proportion, texture and quality. I make my jewelry in New York so I can have full control of the process. I love tweaking and twisting the pieces to keep them interesting. The challenge is controlling myself to keep my pieces accessible when my instinct is the throw in more diamonds.

Do you have other designers that work directly with you or are you the sole jewelry designer?

Yes I work closely with my in-house design team. It is always better to hear someone say "uh uh" and wag the finger before casting models in gold. Even though diamonds and gold are quite serous we all laugh quite a bit. Our design studio always has music playing and an upbeat atmosphere.

Why do you think the LJ Cross collection has been so popular?

I think it has been so well received because it is original and unique. The attitude behind it is relevant for today's lifestyle. Diamonds for the beach is our fashion habit and that's the vibe.

I think it is wonderful that the LJ Cross line pays homage to your brother. Would you like to tell me a little more about him?

Steven has always my inspiration. He was wildly handsome, stylish and innovative. He was a talented musician, witty, charming and kind. Loved by all. When he walked into the room it was a game changer.

How do you balance the creative with business, education and family life?

Full force on all fronts. I have one speed; I am always in high gear. I'm lucky to have a supportive family in my corner and an incredible team. When I am surrounded by positivity I am able to be productive.

Are there designers that you particularly admire?

I am a big fan of Japanese designers and am thrilled to be able to sell their lines in my boutique. When I visit Tokyo the most fun is meeting with the young talent because creativity is infectious.

Do you have any mentors in the business?

Vera Wang has been my best friend forever. You can't get better than that. Tory Burch is also a good friend and to have access to these two amazing business women is a blessing.

Anything else, absolutely anything you want BroadwayWorld.com fashion readers to know.

Be bold, do your thing and remember life is in the doing.
