NEW YORK, NY - The hyper-realistic paintings of American artist Marc Dennis are featured in The Curated Collection of the premiere edition of Xcellence, a Luxaviation Quarterly Magazine, an in-flight publication servicing the private aviation market.

Marc Dennis is a New York artist known for his hyper-realistic, slightly staged, and subtlety romanticized paintings of contemporary American culture. In his clever and astoundingly painted canvas titled "Rock Star," the artist repainted, detail for detail Velasquez's famous painting Las Meninas with one contemporary addition a disco ball.

Dennis claims that Las Meninas might be the most celebrated painting in history, which in and of a modern day context with his usual style of tongue-in-cheek humor the artist includes the disco ball as a symbol of celebration but also as a metaphor for the celebration of the triumph of the human ego. This image in its entirety is intended to reflect the varying relationships artists have with art history as well as the nature of the contemporary art scene.

Also featured in the Curated Collection section of Xcellence Magazine are; Veronique Ansorge, Director of David Zwirner Gallery, and the street artist turned fine artist known as KAWS.

Seven of Dennis' paintings will be included in an exhibition titled, "Hyperrealism" opening next month at the Clay Arch Museum in South Korea. In addition, Dennis' painting, "Allegory of Love" is currently on display in the EMP Museum in Seattle, WA in a large group exhibition titled "Hello! Exploring the Supercute World of Hello Kitty."

Marc Dennis was born in 1971 in Danvers, Massachusetts, and obtained a Bachelor's degree from Tyler School of Art. He earned his Master's in Fine Arts from The University of Texas at Austin. Throughout his career, Dennis' works have been included in numerous group and solo exhibitions nationwide, including New York City, London, Los Angeles, South Korea, Chicago, Miami, Aspen, Washington, D.C., Houston, and Seattle.
