AMARILLO, TEXAS - (July 1, 2016) - The Amarillo Symphony, (www.amarillosymphony.org), the leader of orchestral music in the Texas Panhandle since 1924, announced today that the 2016-2017 season auditions will be held in Amarillo, Texas on Saturday, August 27th and Sunday, August 28th,2016. All candidates must register for an audition with the Director of Operations no later than Friday, August 19, 2016.

The Amarillo Symphony announces the following vacancies for the 2016-17 Season:

Violin I, Chair 3
Violin I, Chair 8
Violin II, Chair 2 (one-year) Violin II, Chair 7
Violin II, Chair 9
Viola, Chair 6
Viola, Chair 7
Cello, Chair 4 (one-year)
Cello, Chair 7
Cello, Chair 8
Flute II/Aux. Piccolo (one-year) Horn IV
Bass Trombone
Principal Timpani

To schedule an audition and receive an audition packet, please mail your current resume and $50 refundable deposit (make check payable to Amarillo Symphony) to:

Repertoire lists will not be given over the phone. No phone calls, please.

Should an audition result in additional openings with a section, the Audition Committee reserves the right to name a winner for the vacated seat based on the auditions heard for the posted vacancy.

In the event that the Audition Committee deems that two or more candidates are artistically comparable, the Amarillo Symphony reserves the right to use information concerning an applicant's distance from Amarillo and season availability to determine the winner of an audition.
