'Conan' writer Andrés du Bouchet is poised for the digital and vinyl release of his 2nd comedy album, 20-Sided Guy, which he describes as 'an absurdly verbose, verbosely absurd, thoroughly profane exploration of ways in which the English language can be utilized for utter stupidity.' The album will be released on November 25th and available through aspecialthing Records digitally and on vinyl, and the vinyl will include a digital download of the deluxe, 2-hour-long version of the album. There will be release parties in L.A. (11/25) and NYC (11/28), which will include a free copy of the album on vinyl for all those in attendance.

With the infinite patience of aspecialthing Records, du Bouchet has recorded each album track in a different venue, which not only resulted in a very eclectic mix of performances, but also serves as an illustration of what performing has been like for the comedian during his time in Los Angeles: 'I perform in actual comedy clubs about as often as I look in the mirror naked and nod approvingly,' said du Bouchet. 'Most of the time I find myself performing in bars or small theaters, and I wanted to capture a variety of those rooms. Also, as I learned from my first album, making a live audience sit through an uninterrupted hour of my material should probably be a violation of the Geneva Convention.'

For the better part of 2013 and 2014, du Bouchet has been recording spots all over Los Angeles, as well as in Santa Barbara, San Francisco, Portland and Austin, and carefully culling the performances that he thinks are fit for the album. 'Ryan and Matt from aspecilathing Records have been very patient with me, often coming out to record performances that end up not being album-worthy. But every so often we get a gem, and I can check that piece off the list.'

As far as the album title, 20-Sided Guy, is concerned, du Bouchet said:

'It's basically a dedication to my 12-year old self. That's the age I was consumed by sci-fi and fantasy novels, and discovered Dungeons & Dragons (D&D pioneered the use of the famous 20-Sided Die). Several genres that 12-year old me would find quite compelling are going to be represented on the album, from medieval fantasy, to post-apocalyptic sci-fi, to H.P. Lovecraft, to vampirism, to superheroes, to just plain old dirty poetry, and of course, fart humor. I also like to think that 20-Sided Guy is some sort of comment about my many sides, but let's face it, I'm pretty much one-sided, and that side is big, loud, and really silly. Also, I just happened to meet the artist who designed my forthcoming album's cover (image attached) while playing D&D. His name is Skinner, and he's a mad genius.'
