The heavenly beauty of Fauré's Requiem provides a soothing epilogue to Sibelius' thrilling call to freedom and Nielsen's stirring symphonic ode to optimism. The Columbus Symphony presents Finlandia & Fauré at the Ohio Theatre (39 E. State St.) on Friday, April 24, at 8pm and Saturday, April 25, at 8pm. Zeitouni has emerged as one of Canada's brightest young conductors. His eloquent yet fiery style lends itself to a range of repertoires from baroque to contemporary music, and it has earned him regular and recurring engagements across North America. He studied under Maestro Raffi Armenian and graduated from the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal in conducting, percussion, and theory. In addition to his duties as artistic director and conductor of the Orchestre de chambre I Musici de Montréal, Zeitouni is music director of the Colorado Music Festival.

Canadian soprano Hélène Brunet charms the public, as well as the critics with her warm and elegant voice, profound musicality, and heartfelt interpretations. She has become a sought-after vocalist on the early music scene in Canada, collaborating with ensembles such as Ensemble Caprice, L'Harmonie des Saisons, le Studio de Musique Ancienne de Montréal, Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, Theater of Early Music, and Les Voix Baroques. Brunet is a regular guest at Festival Montréal Baroque and has recently performed in a concert featuring renowned bass Harry van der Kamp at the Vancouver Early Music Festival.

In 2013, he added another trophy to his impressive collection, winning the General Division title of the International Gerda Lissner Voice Competition.
