Young Soon Kim and WHITE WAVE DANCE Present World Premiere of ETERNAL NOW, 6/19-22

Young Soon Kim and WHITE WAVE DANCE present the World Premiere of Eternal NOW. An ambitious collaboration reuniting Young Soon Kim's fluid and intertwining dramatic movement with longtime collaborator composer Marco Cappelli, who will perform an original score live, as dancers interact with scenes of lusciously composed images and edited footage by video artist, Kate Freer, playing on widescreen monitors.

Eternal NOW isthe fourth and final chapter of a series Kim conceived and began creating in 2010.

ABOUT YOUNG SOON KIM and WHITE WAVE DANCE
WHITE WAVE DANCE is committed to the creation of a union between the natural rhythm of the planet and the primal essence of the human spirit. Steven Trumon Gray, Kelly Garone, Misuzu Hara, Guanglei Hui, Juhwan Hwang, Anton Martynov, Emily Pope-Blackman, Mikelle Rindflish, and Mei Yamanaka are nine extraordinary dancers that comprise this world-class company.

Young Soon Kim is one of the most renowned choreographers Korea has ever produced. Born in Kwang Ju, Korea, Kim came to the United States in 1977 at the invitation of the Martha Graham School. Kim studied with Louis Falco, Lynn Simonson, Zvi Gotheiner, Lar Lubavitch, Twyla Tharp and Martha Myers and danced with Jennifer Muller /The Works (1980-1984), Pearl Lang and Joyce Trisler Companies and among others.
In 1988, she formed WHITE WAVE RISING Young Soon Kim Dance Company for which she has created more than 55 original works. WHITE WAVE DANCE has toured internationally highlighted by the 1988 Summer Olympics World Dance Festival and the 1996 Far East Tour, where performances garnered international CNN coverage.

The company has traversed the globe performing her repertory of original works in Taiwan, China, and Hong Kong, as well as a 60-day tour in Korea. Kim's 34-year career as a choreographer began as a performer appearing at major festivals and collaborating with musicians like Dave Brubeck. Kim has also choreographed for City Contemporary Dance Company (Hong Kong), Seoul Contemporary Dance Company (Korea), and the St. Gallen Dance Loft (Switzerland), among others.

In 2012, WHITE WAVE'S 16-member ensemble toured Korea, performing Here Now So Long and SSOOT, featuring live music and video art. KBS-TV broadcast the performance in August 2012 on a program similar to PBS's Great Performances.

Additional highlights include the documentary film "Arirang: The Korean American Journey," featuring Ms. Kim's artistic achievements, which premiered at the Smithsonian Institution and aired nationwide on PBS in 2003; and the CNN feature, "Inside Asia," during the Hong Kong tour, which aired internationally. Recently, the Company appeared at The Museum of Art and Design, NY SummerStage and in a multi-city tour of Korea. Ms. Kim is a 17th Annual KBS - TV Global Korea Award nominee.

Ms. Kim's commitment to producing three annual dance festivals at the WHITE WAVE John Ryan Theater in DUMBO since 2001 has earned her a reputation as one of New York City's fiercest curators.
