The York Symphony Orchestra (YSO) will welcome one of America's most exciting and charismatic young conductors and acclaimed orchestra builder, Kyle Wiley Pickett, as a guest conductor tonight, Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m., at the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center.

Known as a talented and visionary musician, Pickett will guest conduct the YSO for a Classical Favorites performance highlighting featured pieces Rimsky-Korsakov's Procession of the Nobles from Mlada, Mozart's Clarinet Concerto, and Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5.

Pickett received his doctoral training at the prestigious Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Md. and has served as a guest conductor and performer with symphonies, musical theatres and operas around the country. In addition to serving as a guest conductor of the YSO for this very special performance, he has begun the 2013-2014 season as the newly-appointed conductor of both the Springfield and Topeka symphony orchestras. This season also marks his final year as conductor of the North State and The JuneauSymphonies.
