World-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma, pianist Kathryn Stott and South American guitarists The Assad Brothers bring a night of unconventional classical music to the Mesa Arts Center, Sunday, April 22 at 7:30 p.m.

Ma, a 15-time Grammy Award winning cellist, explores music beyond the Western classical tradition seeking inspiration and collaboration from many diverse cultures. Of his 75 albums many are classical, but many defy categorization thanks to partnerships with artists such as Bobby McFerrin and explorations of genres such as Brazilian and Asian, press notes state.

Ma performs with renowned British pianist Kathryn Stott, not merely an accompanist but a partner in creating a sonic energy through shared music-making. The Assad Brothers, whose guitar playing is rich in Brazilian music tradition and filled with exceptional artistry, innovation and expression join the pair.
