Wonderbound Announces Its 2014-2015 Season, Which Includes SERENADE FOR STRINGS, MARIE and More

Featuring Baroque Chamber Orchestra, Colorado Symphony and Chimney Choir, Wonderbound's 2014-2015 season brings live music and exciting collaborations to the stage yet again. From celebrated works such as Garrett Ammon's Serenade for Strings to new productions exploring the life of Marie Antoinette and later, the inhabitants of Denver, this season promises to lead audiences on a breathless adventure.

In October, Wonderbound will launch the season by continuing its experimentation with Colorado Symphony's exquisite musicians. The program will feature Garrett Ammon's celebrated Serenade for Strings set to Tchaikovsky's enduringly beautiful score as well as a world premiere by Wonderbound's Sarah Tallman.

This encore performance to Serenade for Strings promises to be gorgeous and virtuosic."

Wonderbound's relationship with Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado began with its collaborative production of A Dangerous Liaison in 2012. Immediately, these seemingly disparate organizations began to parley about their next adventure. In February, 2015, Marie will delve into the psychological, social, political and romantic complexities surrounding Marie Antoinette, Queen of France, through a decidedly contemporary lens. In addition to this full length production, a salon entitled Sketches of Marie will be held on June 14, 2014 featuring an intimate first look at the production as well as a discussion encouraging audience perspectives.

After our successful joint performance in the fall of 2012 (A Dangerous Liaison), we immediately began thinking about how to take this partnership to the next step." said Frank Nowell, Artistic Director for Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado, "We wanted to go deeper in exploring the intersections between Baroque music and modern dance. Marie is a project rich with possibilities - historical subject matter that has intriguing parallels to our own world. I look forward to sharing this new work with Colorado audiences!"

Chimney Choir is possibly Denver's most adventurous folk/rock band, creating genre-bending music and medium-defying performances - a perfect fit for a Wonderbound collaborator. In April, 2015, Boomtown: Tales from the River Valley will adventure into the legends of Denver itself, delving into the realms of personal myth and the power of place in a land where the mountains meet the plains and humanity endeavors to leave a mark worthy of the earth beneath its feet.

Wonderbound has been at the heart of some of this city's most exciting collaborations, and we are very inspired by their fearless and adventurous spirit. Together, we have decided to explore Denver. Not only as a city, but as a unique circumstance that has brought us all together. It is changing every minute. It is becoming the face of all those moving here, living here, creating here. As we find ourselves in Denver, Denver finds itself in us. "

Wonderbound's final performance of The Nutcracker took to the stage in December of 2013. For the winter of 2014, Wonderbound has something very special up their sleeves, featuring a performance that will tantalize all five senses. More information on this production will be forthcoming.

Each season performance will be preceded by a limited seating Teaser at the Wonderbound Studio at Junction Box, allowing audiences a taste of what the full length performance will hold (announced via the wonderbound.com website). As always, the public is encouraged to experience the performers, not only at the official shows throughout the season, but in their rehearsal space in the heart of Denver.
