Utah Symphony | Utah Opera today announced three additional performances and an additional soloist for its 2016 Deer Valley Music Festival.

Additions include a chamber orchestra performance with music from Mozart, Honegger and Poulenc; The Music of John Williams including the new suite from "Star Wars: The Force Awakens'" Will Hagen performing Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto; and multi-platinum-selling entertainer Michael Feinstein with the Utah Symphony. The addition of these performances brings the summer festival's schedule to 17 performances between July 2, 2016 and August 9, 2016. Tickets for all performances are on sale now.

On Wednesday, August 3, 2016, Associate Conductor Rei Hotoda conducts the Utah Symphony in a program that features music from Mozart, Honegger and Poulenc at St. Mary's Church as part of the Chamber Orchestra Series. The performance will begin with Ms. Hotoda performing as soloist and conductor on Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 9, a piece Albert Einstein dubbed as one of Mozart's "monumental works." The program continues with Honegger's Alps-inspired symphonic poem "Pastorale d'été" and concludes with Poulenc's Sinfonietta.

Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture," previously announced for the Saturday, August 6 performance, has been rescheduled for Friday, August 5. In addition to this perennial favorite, Utah native Will Hagen returns to the Festival and performs Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto with the Utah Symphony. Mr. Hagen first performed with the Utah Symphony at age nine on the 2001 Salute to Youth program. He has since performed with major orchestras both nationally and internationally. The program will also feature Shostakovich's "Festive Overture," Borodin's "Polovtsian Dances" from "Prince Igor" and Khachaturian's "Adagio of Spartacus and Phrygia."

On Saturday, August 6, 2016 the Festival continues with the ever-popular Music of John Williams led by Associate Conductor Rei Hotoda. The Utah Symphony performs the suite from the new "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," and music from other cinematic blockbusters including "Harry Potter," "Raiders of the Lost Ark," "Jurassic Park," "Schindler's List," "E.T. the Extraterrestrial" and "Saving Private Ryan."

On Tuesday, August 9, the 2016 Deer Valley Music Festival will close with Michael Feinstein performing an evening of Gershwin standards with the Utah Symphony. Mr. Feinstein, the multi-platinum-selling, two-time Emmy and five-time Grammy Award-nominated entertainer dubbed "The Ambassador of the Great American Songbook," is considered one of the premier interpreters of American standards. His 200-plus shows a year have included performances at Carnegie Hall, Sydney Opera House and the Hollywood Bowl as well as the White House and Buckingham Palace. Early in his career he was Ira Gershwin's assistant, which earned him access to numerous unpublished Gershwin songs, many of which he has since performed and recorded.

Previously announced highlights of festival include Utah Symphony performances with high-energy, new wave rock band, The B-52s; Matthew Morrison, who starred as teacher Will Schuester on TV's "Glee"; DreamWorks Animation in Concert with scenes from favorite movies including "Home," "Shrek," "How to Train Your Dragon," "Kung Fu Panda," and "Madagascar;" a tribute to the music of late rock legend David Bowie; and violinist Robert McDuffie performing Philip Glass' "The American Four Seasons."
