The Massapequa Philharmonic to Feature Guest Conductor David Bernard and Violinist Kristin Lee in Season Finale, 5/10

The Massapequa Philharmonic will be featuring guest conductor David Bernard and violinist Kristin Lee in its Season Finale at Berner Auditorium in Massapequa on Saturday May 10th at 8 pm. The program will feature some of the most sublime and engaging classical music, including Dvorak's brilliant Symphony No. 9 ("From the New World"), Brahms exciting Academic Festival Overture and Saint-Saëns alluring and passionate Violin Concerto No. 3 featuring Ms. Lee. "I am looking forward to collaborating with the Massapequa Philharmonic and Kristin Lee on this fantastic program," says guest conductor David Bernard. "Dvorak's New World Symphony is thoroughly engaging, while Kristin Lee will dazzle with her artistry in the Saint-Saëns concerto. This concert will be a great experience for the audience."

The performance will be held at Berner Auditorium, 50 Carman Mill Road in Massapequa, New York.

Known as the energetic and incisive Music Director of New York City's Park Avenue Chamber Symphony, David Bernard has performed in more than 20 countries on four continents, including a nine-city tour of the People's Republic of China with the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony and guest conducting appearances with the China Conservatory Orchestra, the Long Island String Festival, the Massapequa Philharmonic, the New York Symphonic Arts Ensemble, the Putnam Symphony and the South Shore Symphony. A two-time First Prize Winner of the Orchestral Conducting competition of The American Prize, David Bernard's discography includes 20 albums spanning music from Vivaldi to Copland, including a complete cycle of Beethoven Symphonies, released on Amazon.com, iTunes, Napster and Rhapsody of which Fanfare Magazine acclaimed "David Bernard's interpretations are splendidly proportioned; from the first note to the last the listener feels that this is the way the whole work must go...balances are expertly judged and wonderfully blended...overall, distinguished and elegant music making."

Praised by The Strad for her "rare stylistic aptness" and "mastery of tone and rare mood in a performer of any age," Korean-American violinist Kristin Lee is a member of The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and has appeared at the Ravinia Festival, Music@Menlo, the Perlman Music Program, Festival Mozaic, Medellín Festicámara of Colombia, the El Sistema Chamber Music festival of Venezuela, the Princeton Festival, and the Sarasota Music Festival. A winner of Astral Artists' 2010 National Auditions and a top prizewinner of the 2012 Walter W. Naumburg Competition, Ms. Lee has appeared as soloist with The Philadelphia Orchestra, St. Louis Symphony, New Jersey Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic, New Mexico Symphony, Albany Symphony, the Ural Philharmonic of Russia, the Korean Broadcasting Symphony of Korea, and has debuted as soloist with the Guiyang Symphony Orchestra of China and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra and gave debut recitals at New York's Merkin Concert Hall and Florida's Kravis Center this season. A student of Itzhak Perlman and Donald Weilerstein, Kristin Lee is a faculty member of the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College, and has served on the faculties of the LG Chamber Music School in Seoul, Korea, El Sistema's chamber music festival in Caracas, Venezuela, and the Music@Menlo Chamber Music Festival.
