The Florida Theatre announces the latest additions to the 2011-2012 season. All four of these shows go on sale this Friday, September 9th at 10am.

Ledisi: The Pieces of Me Tour

Ledisi hails, originally, from New Orleans, but grew up mainly in Oakland. After self-releasing two albums, Ledisi signed a major record deal with Verve Forecast and released her third album Lost And Found in 2007. The record earned her two Grammy nominations, including one for Best New Artist. In 2009, Ledisi released her fourth album Turn Me Loose, which earned her a couple more Grammy nominations. Ledisi's fifth album, Pieces Of Me, was released on June 14, 2011 debuting at #8 on the Billboard 200, her first entry on the top 10 of the album chart.

Born in Seoul, Korea and educated at the Juilliard in New York City, the members of the Ahn Trio, (cellist Maria, pianist Lucia, and violinist Angella), are constantly redefining the art and architecture of chamber music. Breathing new life into the standard piano-trio literature with commissioned works from visionary composers such as Michael Nyman, Maurice Jarre, Pat Metheny, Paul Schoenfield, Mark O' Connor, Kenji Bunch, Nikolai Kapustin, and Paul Chihara, the Ahn Trio brings a new energy and excitement to the chamber music world.

Sitar player and composer Anoushka Shankar has emerged as one of the leading figures in World Music today. She is deeply rooted in Indian classical music, having studied exclusively with her father, the legendary Ravi Shankar, and is now one of the foremost performers in that tradition. In tandem with this, she has flourished as a performer and composer, exploring fertile ground in the crossover between Indian music and a variety of genres including electronica, jazz, flamenco and Western classical music.
