The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra announces an artist update to itsperformances tonight and Saturday, October 2-3 (8 p.m.) at Music Hall.

Hailed by the Chicago Tribune as, "A first-rate artist of real musical command, vitality, brilliance and intensity," violinist Karen Gomyo will perform Sibelius' lush and technically dazzling Violin Concerto (the originally scheduled repertoire for this performance). The originally scheduled soloist for these performances, Hilary Hahn, has withdrawn as she is expecting a baby. Ms. Gomyo previously performed with the CSO in 2004 at Riverbend Music Center; this will be her Music Hall debut with the CSO.

"Ms. Hahn and her husband are eagerly awaiting the birth of their first child this summer, after which Ms. Hahn will be taking a few short months' leave," Ms. Hahn's management said in a statement. "As such, she will not perform with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra this fall. She will spring back into action in mid November and the rest of the season will continue as originally planned. Ms. Hahn thanks the fans and the orchestras for their understanding and support during this exciting time. She wishes the performers wonderful concerts and looks forward to seeing everyone when she's back in Cincinnati."

The program repertoire, conducted by CSO Music Director Louis Langrée, remains unchanged, and also features Schoenberg's rendition of Pelleas und Melisande, a mythical story of love, jealousy and regret.
