The 21st annual Summer Festival of Sacred Music at St. Bartholomew's Church concludes on Sunday, September 13, at 11 am with Mozart's Missa in C, K. 259 ("Orgel-Solo Messe").

Mozart's Missa in C, K. 259, called the "Organ Solo Mass" because of the soloistic use of the organ in the Benedictus, was composed in 1776 while Mozart was employed as the court musician for the Prince-Archbishop Hieronymus Colloredo in Salzburg. It was one of many Missae that Mozart composed while working in Salzburg from 1773 to 1778. It falls into the genre of a Missa Solemnis because of its more festive instrumentation (trumpets and tympani) and a more extensive rendering of the Latin text than would be found in a Missa Brevis.

St. Bartholomew's Choir, St. Bart's Singers and St. Bartholomew's Boy and Girl Choristers with an orchestra of period instruments will be conducted by William K. Trafka.

The Summer Festival of Sacred Music takes place at St. Bartholomew's Church at the corner of Park Avenue and 51st Street. Subway: 6 to 51st Street. For more information, call (212) 378-0222or visit http://stbarts.org/music/summer-festival-of-sacred-music/for the complete schedule.
