The Spire Center for Performing Arts, the entertainment mecca of Plymouth, presents The Greg Hopkins Jazz Orchestra with special guest vocalist Renese King, tonight, June 25, 8 pm, sponsored by Rockland Trust, at The Spire Center for Performing Arts, 25 ½ Court Street, Plymouth.

The Greg Hopkins Jazz Orchestra delivers a complete 16-piece "big band" style jazz orchestra, a rare opportunity for live jazz lovers. As a teacher at Berklee College of Music since 1974, Greg Hopkins was dubbed "a real find" for the Buddy Rich Orchestra by The London Times. Whether he is leading his own band or performing as a sideman, he is established as one of the genre's most respected performers, composers and arrangers. Hopkins has performed with legendary artists including Dizzy Gillespie, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, Joe Williams, Tony Bennett, the Supremes, Burt Bacharach, Nancy Wilson and Lou Rawls.

Renese King's musical talents have taken her from spiritual and gospel singing at the church podium to timpani playing on the Carnegie Hall stage. Recognized regionally as a talented instrumentalist, choral director and arranger, she has toured internationally as a percussionist, pianist, and vocalist with a number of choral and orchestral ensembles. It is, however, her soulful and unforgettably moving voice that has piqued growing national attention. King has been featured in solo appearances in several concerts, national television broadcasts, and a 17-city national tour with the Boston Pops Orchestra and Tanglewood Festival Chorus, Keith Lockhart, conductor (appearing alongside such noted personalities as Peter Jennings, Patti Austin, Amy Grant, Vince Gill and Cyndi Lauper). Her orchestral arrangements have been performed by the Boston Pops, Thayer Symphony, Cape Anne Symphony and the Melrose Symphony Orchestras.

Tickets for The Greg Hopkins Jazz Orchestra with special guest vocalist Renese King are $25, advance purchase is recommended, seating is limited to capacity. The Spire is handicap accessible, public parking is available streetside, and in public lots in close proximity.
