Dorian Baroque launches the 2015-16 season with an orchestral concert titled The Galant Violoncello Piccolo: Milan to Naples celebrating the late baroque music in the Italian Galante style featuring guest soloist Elinor Frey on the five-string piccolo cello.

Elinor Frey is devoted to the research and performance of lesser known works for the cello and is now taking the early music world by storm with vibrant solo performances as well as with her ensemble, Pallade Musica.

In this program, the Dorian Baroque Orchestra takes on the music of a short period of history in Italy, when composers began to move away from the dense polyphonic textures of the baroque and towards the melody-driven and graceful music of the classical period.

The concert is set for Saturday, October 17th, 2015 at 8pm at The Church of the Epiphany, 1393 York Avenue at 74th Street New York, NY 10021. Tickets: $20 General Admission; $10 Students & Seniors. Visit piccolocello.brownpapertickets.com or email music@dorianbaroque.org.

Dorian Baroque, Inc. is a New-York based ensemble of musicians who perform on period instruments, presenting orchestral, chamber and operatic music ranging from the early baroque period to the present. The diverse musical backgrounds of the performers bring a philosophy to music making that is focused on exploring the versatility of historical instruments and led by the principles of the baroque period - opulence, exuberance, dissonance, and ornate grandeur. The orchestra made its debut in June 2012 and has since been integrating into the early music landscape of New York City. For more information about Dorian Baroque, visit dorianbaroque.org.
