Photo Flash: A Look Back on Prolific Career of Maestro Lorin Maazel

As BWW reported earlier today, renowned conductor, violinist and composer Lorin Maazel passed away yesterday, July 13th at the age of 84 due to complications of pneumonia. Check out photos from his prolific conducting career below!

Maazel made his debut at the conducting podium at the age of nine, and embarked on his career in earnest in 1953, establishing a reputation in European concert halls by 1960.

He would later be appointed music director of the Cleveland Orchestra,Orchestre National de France, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, and the New York Philharmonic (NYP), among other posts.
