On Saturday, March 9, noted arranger and producer, Fred Barton, whose work is heard regularly in concert halls around the country, is celebrating composer Jule Styne on the Schimmel stage. With the scores of such Broadway classics as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Peter Pan, Bells Are Ringing, Gypsy and Funny Girl to his credit, composer Jule Styne ranks as one of the undisputed architects of the American musical theater. In addition to his legendary work in the theater Styne has also made Academy Award-winning contributions to the American Hollywood songbook writing songs for films such as Anchors Aweigh,Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Funny Girl, Funny Lady and Three Coins in a Fountain.

Featuring the 10 piece Fred Barton Orchestra and including appearances by two-time Tony Award nominee Vivian Reed (Bubbling Brown Sugar, Marie Christine), this evening will include iconic songs from the Jule Styne songbook including songs from Funny Girl, Gypsy, Bells are Ringing, Do Re Mi, Fade Out-Fade In, Hallelujah Baby!, Darling of the Day, Peter Pan, High Button Shoes, Sugar and songs from Jule Styne's years in Hollywood. Others making appearances during the evening are Broadway stars, Broadway vet Nora Mae Lyng (Into the Woods, Dirty Blonde, Cabaret, Orignal star and producer of Forbidden Broadway), Tony-nominee Pamela Myers (Original Broadway Cast of Company, Into the Woods), Patrick Boyd (Grease), Tari Kelly (Anything Goes, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Boy from Oz), Karen Murphy (A Little Night Music, 9 to 5, All Shook Up) as well as Damon Kirsche On a Clear Day You Can See Forever) and cabaret performer Jesse Luttrell.

Fred Barton was in the original cast and music-directed Forbidden Broadway. His Broadway and national tour conducting credits include: Cabaret with Joel Grey; Zorba with Anthony Quinn; Camelot with Robert Goulet; and City of Angels. His symphonic arrangements are played regularly at Carnegie Hall and by orchestras nationwide. He has numerous credits as television composer, lyricist, book writer, and music director.

Ticket prices for American Showstoppers: An Evening with Jule Styne Featuring The Fred Barton Orchestra at The Schimmel Center for the Arts at Pace University range from $30 to $55. Student rush tickets are available on the day of the performance after 12pm with a valid student ID. The performance will take place on Saturday, March 9 at 7:30PM.
