Tonight, March 4 at 7 pm, Princeton Symphony Orchestra Soundtracks presents Jessica Meyer - violist, composer, teaching artist. Ms. Meyer will talk about "Carving Out Time for Creativity," telling the story of her own journey from performing to rediscovering a talent for composing she had as a child. She creates new music with the use of a loop pedal which she'll introduce and demonstrate during a 45-min live performance of music from her latest CD, Sounds of Being. This free event is offered in partnership with the Princeton Public Library, and will be held in the library's community room.

Known for her "polish, focus, and excitement" and "expressive, luscious sound" (The New York Times), violist and composer Jessica Meyer is a versatile performer who has been featured as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the world.

As an experienced Teaching Artist for Lincoln Center and other organizations, Jessica has led over a thousand experiential workshops. She regularly trains classroom teachers and conservatory musicians from Juilliard and Curtis on getting audiences to connect to music.

Known as an extraordinary chamber musician and forceful advocate of new music, Jessica Meyer recently made her debut as a daring, sophisticated composer and virtuosic soloist with her CD Sounds of Being. Inspired by everything from Bach, Brahms and Blues to Flamenco, Indian Raga, and Appalachian fiddling, Sounds of Being expands the colors of the instrument while developing brand new ones through fragile timbres, wailing gestures, and percussive grooves. Her creativity is also showcased through her unique orchestral use of a loop pedal, which is vastly different than how most musicians use it to layer sounds.

Free and open to the public; Princeton Public Library Community Room; refreshments served.

This PSO Soundtracks presentation is a prelude to the March 15 PSO Classical Series Concert Soulful Reflections which will feature cellist Zuill Bailey performing Schumann's Cello Concerto in A Minor and Massenet's "Meditation" from Thais.

The PSO Soundtracks Series is presented in partnership with The Princeton Public Library. It explores music and related topics, including behind the scenes at the PSO, Princeton's only professional orchestra.
