Oakland University Partners with Chamber Music Society of Detroit For New Series, Beg. 10/20

Oakland University has announced a prestigious new partnership with the renowned Chamber Music Society of Detroit and the launch of the Chamber Music Society of Detroit at Oakland University series, featuring four Sunday concerts.

The Chamber Music Society of Detroit is entering its 70th season and brings to Oakland University a well-established reputation as one of the leading chamber music presenting organizations in the world. This new concert series, presented in partnership with OU Music, Theatre and Dance, features artists and ensembles of national and international distinction.

These affordably priced public concerts in Varner Recital Hall offer an exciting opportunity to the community and region, and all are welcome to attend. Varner Hall, on the OU campus, is surrounded by ample free parking. Maps are available online at oakland.edu/map/ or by typing Varner Hall into a smart phone.

Classical Jam will perform at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013. These five spectacular, Juilliard-trained musicians blend classical tradition and improvisation, creating dynamic performances unlike anything else on the concert stage today.

The Cavani Quartet will perform at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013. The renowned, prize-winning quartet-in-residence at the Cleveland Institute of Music has appeared in prestigious concert halls across the country, including Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center. Their program includes quartets by Mozart, Bartók and Debussy.

The Kyodai Brass Quintet will perform at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 9, 2014. This brass quintet is known for eclectic programming, exciting performances, diverse repertoire and a commitment to educating audiences of all ages.

Duo Sonidos will perform at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, 2014. The acclaimed guitar and violin duo will perform a heterogeneous program ranging from classical to contemporary selections rooted in Spanish traditions.
