New York Philharmonic Ensembles to Perform at Merkin Concert Hall, 6/7

The New York Philharmonic Ensembles, composed of musicians from the Orchestra, will give its sixth and final performance of the 2014-15 season on Sunday, June 7, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. at Merkin Concert Hall with a concert featuring Respighi's Il tramonto, poemetto lirico for Mezzo- Soprano and String Quartet; A. Busch's Quintet for Alto Saxophone and Strings; and Dvor?a?k's String Quartet in C major, Op. 61. The musicians on the program will be violinists Lisa GiHae Kim, Kuan Cheng Lu, Anna Rabinova, Fiona Simon, Sharon Yamada, and Shanshan Yao; violists Katherine Greene, Dawn Hannay, and Robert Rinehart; Associate Principal Cello Eileen Moon and cellists Eric Bartlett and Nathan Vickery; and guests artists mezzo-soprano Sandra Piques Eddy and saxophonist Harvey Pittel.

Since 1984 the Philharmonic Ensembles series has presented diverse programming of both classical masterpieces and modern compositions. Ensembles concerts are also offered on the Orchestra's international and domestic tours, on separate chamber music tours, and at locations throughout New York City.

for the Orchestra, an endowment fund created to honor the accomplishments of the Philharmonic's former Music Director, Zubin Mehta
Programs are supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of

Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
