Music Mountain, America's Oldest Continuing Summer Chamber Music Festival, continues its 86th Anniversary season with three returning favorites! The weekend begins with No Tune Like A Show Tune: The Best of Broadway, Michael Berkeley's toe-tapping musical revue, tonight, August 29 (6:30pm) plus pre-concert dinner (5pm)! The music continues tomorrow, August 30 (3PM) with the outstanding Dover String Quartet with guest artist Alexander Fiterstein, clarinet, performing a program featuring Dutilleux, Dvorak, and Mozart. The summer still simmers with many more concerts scheduled thru September 27!

There's No Tune Like a Show Tune! This one-night-only event features Sharon Playhouse's own Michael Berkeley with his extraordinarily talented guests offering a musical celebration of "The Best of Broadway" -- with music by Rodgers & Hammerstein, Rodgers & Hart, Jerry Herman, Cole Porter, Stephen Sondheim, Andrew Lloyd Webber -- and so much more! Broadway veteran and cabaret singer Wanda L. Houston, Diva soprano/actress Amy LeBlanc, singer and nationally-acclaimed tapper Heather J. Holohan, and multi-talented singer/comedian Frank Fasano join singer/songwriter, musical director/arranger Michael Berkeley, for 90 minutes of Broadway's greatest hits. With Michael Berkeley at the piano, No Tune Like A Show Tune will offer a fast-paced, dynamic evening of musical theatre!

Michael Berkeley has directed/musical directed more than 40 shows for TriArts Sharon Playhouse in Sharon, CT, serving as Resident Musical Director for nine years and then as Artistic Director from 1999-2012. As an educator, Michael has worked extensively with youth theatre programs -- teaching workshops, and serving as an artist-in-residence and director/musical director. In 2004, he helped establish a musical theatre program at the Region One high school in Connecticut, where he has directed/musical directed students for the past twelve years.

Saturday evening will also feature a pre-concert dinner at The Falls Village Inn. Guests are welcome to partake in 5pm dinner prior to the 6:30pm performance. Reservations must be made before August 28.

Sunday afternoon welcomes back the brilliant Dover String Quartet with guest artist Alexander Fiterstein, clarinet. The unique program will feature Dutilleux: Ainsi La Nuit; Dvorak: String Quartet in F major, Op. 96 "American"; and Mozart: Clarinet Quintet in A Major, K. 581.

The Dover String Quartet has catapulted to international stardom becoming one of the most in-demand ensembles in the world. The quartet's current season has the ensemble performing more than 100 concerts throughout the United States, Canada, South America, and Europe. In 2013-14, the Quartet became the first ever Quartet-in-Residence for the venerated Curtis Institute of Music. In addition to their extensive touring schedule, the Dover String Quartet is an active member of Music for Food, an initiative to help musicians fight hunger in their home communities.

The quartet will be joined by guest artist Alexander Fiterstein, clarinet. Alexander's playing combines flawless technique and consummate musicianship with graceful phrasing and a warm soulful tone. He is considered one of today's most exceptional clarinet players.

Music Mountain is located in Falls Village, Connecticut on Music Mountain Road, where a short scenic drive will bring you to Gordon Hall atop Music Mountain. Free parking and picnic facilities are available. Food, locally baked cookies, coffee, and spring water are available for purchase.
