The University at Albany's Department of Music and Theatre is pleased to present faculty member Max Lifchitz performing Modest Mussorgsky's ever-popular Pictures at an Exhibition on Monday, October 24 at 7pm at the UAlbany Performing Arts Center on the uptown campus. The program will also feature a few of Lifchitz's own compositions including the recent Piano Silhouettes which are a collection of "reaction pieces" to five of Elisabeth Condon's paintings. Images of the paintings by Viktor Hartmann that inspired Mussorgsky as well as Ms. Condon's works that provided the needed impetus for Lifchitz will accompany the performance.

Active internationally as composer and performer, Lifchitz is marking thirty years as a member of the University at Albany faculty. The San Francisco Chronicle described him as "a stunning, ultra-sensitive pianist" while The New York Times praised him for his "clean, measured and sensitive performances." Lifchitz appears as collaborative artist and conductor in over fifty compact disc albums, including nine widely praised solo albums featuring piano music from the Americas.

Tickets are $8 for the general public and $4 for students, seniors & UAlbany faculty/staff and may be purchased through the Performing Arts Center Box Office. For further information, contact the Box Office at (518) 442-3997 or visit the Performing Arts Center website at www.albany.edu/pac
