One of Mexico's most important classical music ensembles, the acclaimed 70-member Orquesta Sinfonica del Estada de Mexico (State Symphony of Mexico) under legendary conductor Enrique Batiz makes its Marin Center debut TONIGHT, MARCH 14th, 8pm at the Marin Veteran's Memorial Auditorium (10 Avenue of the Flags, San Rafael.) Tickets are $60, $45, $35 and $25; students (20 & under) $20. For groups of 10 or more, $5 discount per ticket. In 1971 at the initiative of Maestro Enrique Batiz and the State Government of Mexico, the Orquesta Sinfónica del Estado de México was founded with the goal of promoting music as a means of union and identification among Mexicans. Based in the city of Toluca, the orchestra was characterized from the outset by its efforts to bring its message to all corners of the Republic.

Acclaimed conductor Enrique Bátiz continues to lead this cultural treasure in works celebrating a deep foundation of musical heritage. Bátiz is a former guest with the London Symphony,London Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, and principal guest conductor with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

A source of pride and joy to Mexican-Americans and Mexiquense, the Orquesta Sinfonica has toured North America, China and throughout Europe, performing a wide range of traditional Mexican and Spanish songs as well as classics by Verdi and Beethoven.

Marin Center Presents performances have delighted Bay Area audiences for over 26 years. The spring 2015 season will once again spotlight acclaimed and celebrated entertainment from around the world.
