Brazilian pianist Luiz de Moura Castro will be in concert on Saturday, April 11, presenting Villa-Lobos, Liszt, Chopin and Mendelssohn as the fourth program of 5 @ 5 at DiMenna, a new solo piano performance series curated by Mirian Conti, at The DiMenna Center for Classical Music, 450 West 37th Street in Manhattan.

de Moura Castro will perform Two Songs without Words and Rondo Capriccioso, Op. 14 by Mendelssohn, Liszt's Six Consolations, Villa-Lobos' Bachianas Brasileiras #4 and Two Nocturnes by Chopin, as well as his Scherzo #1, Op. 20, in B minor.

Luiz de Moura Castro's solo recitals include the Metropolitan Museum and Merkin Hall (New York), Rubinstein Hall (St. Petersburg Academy), Piccola Scala (Milan), Teatro Ghione (Rome), Salle Gaveau (Paris), Palau de la Musica (Barcelona), Studio Ansermet (Geneva), and the Sala Cecilia Meireles and Teatro Municipal (Rio de Janeiro). He has appeared with the Orchestre de Chambre Lausanne, Lisbon Radio Orchestra, Filharmonichi di Turino Bratislavia, Janek Orchestras, Yaroslav Symphony and the London, Dallas, Saint Louis, Fort Worth, Hartford and Syracuse symphonies, in addition to all the major orchestras in Brazil.

Professor de Moura Castro is the world-renowned master teacher and adjudicator. He is a graduate of the National School of Music, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (summa cum laude) and of the Lorenzo Fernandez Academy of Music, Rio de Janeiro and the Liszt Academy, Budapest and is Eminent Alumnus of the College of Peter II in Rio de Janeiro. A native of Rio de Janeiro, he gave his debut recital at 9 years old at the Teatro Municipal in Rio de Janeiro, performing works of Bach, Beethoven, Schumann, Debussy, and Chopin.
