Los Angeles Children's Chorus, continuing its 30th Anniversary Season and building upon its long history of presenting other children's choirs from the U.S. and abroad, presents the illustrious American Boychoir, led by Music Director Fernando Malvar-Ruiz, tonight, October 21, 2015, 7 pm, at Pasadena Presbyterian Church.

American Boychoir, presenting a broad range of music from around the world, is recognized as the country's premier boys' choir and is noted for its blend of musical sophistication, spirited presentation and ensemble virtuosity. The concert also includes performances by LACC's Concert Choir under the director of Artistic Director Anne Tomlinson and Young Men's Ensemble led by Dr. Steven Kronauer.

The American Boychoir, based in Princeton, New Jersey, performs regularly with world-class orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, The Philadelphia Orchestra and the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and is often featured with such illustrious conductors as James Levine, Charles Dutoit and Alan Gilbert. It is frequently invited to join renowned artists on stage, and the list of collaborators reflects the extraordinary range of the ensemble: from great classical artists such as Jessye Norman and Frederica von Stade to jazz legend Wynton Marsalis and pop icons Beyoncé and Sir Paul McCartney. The choir's young soloists are also in high demand and have joined forces with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, The Cleveland Orchestra and Spoleto Festival USA, to name a few. As an icon of American musical excellence, the Boychoir has been invited to sing for every sitting U.S. President since John F. Kennedy. Touring frequently at home and abroad as preeminent ambassadors, the American Boychoir spreads messages of beauty and hope through outstanding musical achievement.

The American Boychoir includes boys in fourth through eighth grades. They balance schoolwork with an intense national and international touring schedule. In addition to nearly 100 solo concerts, the choir's 2015-2016 season includes four national tours; continued international releases of the movie "Boychoir" with Dustin Hoffman, Kathy Bates and members of the American Boychoir; performances of Mahler's Symphony 8 with the Philadelphia Orchestra; and engagements at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and at Carnegie Hall in New York City. The legacy of the American Boychoir is preserved through an extensive recording catalog, which includes more than 45 commercial recordings and the launch of its own label, Albemarle Records.
Concert Choir, LA Children Chorus's largest and most advanced performing ensemble for boys and girls, performs with such renowned area arts presenters as LA Opera, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Master Chorale, Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Pasadena Symphony and POPS, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Jacaranda and MUS/IQUE. The Concert Choir tours each summer, alternating between national and international destinations. In previous seasons, the Concert Choir Touring Ensemble has toured Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Africa, Sweden and many parts of the United States.

LACC's Young Men's Ensemble (YME) creates an opportunity for male choristers to continue to sing through the vocal transition. The goal of YME is to provide a forum where boys can learn more about the healthy development of their maturing voices at their own pace in an understanding and encouraging environment. Choristers discover and develop their voices through the study of a wide variety of choral repertoire, continue their music literacy study and enhance their vocal instrument through individual coaching sessions with their conductor.

Tickets are $10; $5 for seniors and children under 17. For tickets and information, please call (626) 793-4231 or visit www.lachildrenschorus.org. Pasadena Presbyterian Church, located at 585 East Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena, California 91101.
