Kleinhans Music Presents Classical Guitarist Thibaut Garcia, 4/4
Another top-flight classical guitarist is coming to perform in Western New York.
Thibaut Garcia, the 2015 Guitar Foundation of America Competition winner, will give a recital at 7 p.m. Monday, April 4 in the Mary Seaton Room of Kleinhans Music Hall, 3 Symphony Circle, Buffalo. Garcia is a 22-year-old native of France who has already amassed an impressive list of recording, performance and competition credits. His Buffalo performance is co-sponsored by the Castellani Andriaccio Guitar Studio and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.
Garcia is on a 50-city tour as part of his Guitar Foundation of America Competition win. His program includes works by Astor Piazzolla, Joachin Rodrigo, and 2016 JoAnn Falletta International Guitar Concerto Competition judge Donald Crockett.
Garcia has been playing classical guitar since age 7. In addition to the prestigious GFA Competition, he won top honors in the "Jose Thomas" international competition in Spain in 2014, the IV Sevilla International Guitar Competition in Spain in 2013, the "Terra Siculorum" in Romania in 2013, the "Ana Amalia" in Weimar, Germany in 2011, and the "Valle de Egues" in Spain in 2008. These wins have catapulted him to a performance career on four continents. He has released two recordings. "Demain dès l'aube" (Tomorrow At Dawn) was produced by the Contrastes label in 2014 and features a unique program of Bach, Berio, and Regondi. In 2016, he made his major-label debut on Warner Records with "Leyendas" (Legends).
"Artists like Garcia, and like the people we bring to Buffalo during the Falletta Competition, represent the future of classical guitar," said Joanne Castellani of the Castellani Andriaccio Duo. "We look forward to presenting Garcia in recital to the many classical guitar lovers in Western New York."
