Kleinhans Music Hall is proud to announce the return of N'Dias (pronounced "jah-hoss" and known as The Mix in English) featuring Alassane Sarr, a master percussionist from Senegal at 8 p.m. tonight, April 4

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with an African marketplace in the lobby as well as pre-concert entertainment by the Daughters of Creative Sound.

The music of N'Dias is rooted in the African tradition. Through its performances, the band strives to build awareness for the beauty and excitement of West African dance and drumming. Though their art is based on tradition, they cover a broad range of musical styles, from ancient to contemporary. The 12-member group includes numerous percussionists, electric guitars and bass, and dancers who deliver engaging high-energy performances from beginning to end. For the performance, N'Dias will also feature the children's dance troupe Ayssiatou.

Leader Alassane Sarr is an internationally renowned artist and is a fourth generation Griot, from Dakar, Senegal, West Africa. He performed with Les Ballet Africains and Silimbo D'Adeane, among many other groups, before immigrating to the U.S. He now makes his home in Buffalo. The Griot tradition combines storytelling and musical performance to communicate the history of the Senegalese people.
