Los Angeles Philharmonic Association President and Chief Executive Officer Deborah Borda has announced the appointment of Kathleen Kane to the position of Vice President of Philanthropy. Kane joins the Philharmonic from City of Hope in Los Angeles, where she was most recently the Chief Philanthropy and External Relations Officer.

"Kathleen is one of the leading development professionals in the United States, with over 25 years of experience in fundraising and building high-performing development teams, and we are delighted to welcome her to the LA Phil family," says Borda. "The skill, knowledge, and enthusiasm she brings to the Association are a great complement to this institution's leadership team and will play an important role in our future."

Kathleen Kane assumes her new position in mid-June. Her responsibilities include the leadership and management of all Los Angeles Philharmonic Association fundraising efforts, including the formulation, planning and execution of a fundraising strategy that incorporates the many facets of the development department. The department encompasses annual fund, major gifts, grants, corporate sponsorships, planned giving, volunteer services, Board development, endowment and capital campaigns, and special gala and recognition events at both Walt Disney Concert Hall and the Hollywood Bowl.

"It is an honor to join such an iconic organization as the LA Phil at this particular moment in its history," says Kathleen Kane. "To be able to work with Deborah Borda, her executive team and such an amazing board is an unparalleled opportunity. Together we will grow philanthropy to ensure a vibrant musical future for the citizens of Los Angeles."

Kathleen Kane has served City of Hope since 2004, as Chief Philanthropy and External Relations Officer. During her time there she completed a $1 billion comprehensive campaign and led the rejuvenation and refocusing of the fundraising department. Prior to her tenure at City of Hope, Kane held several senior development positions at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) including Associate Vice Chancellor, University Development and Alumni Relations and Vice President, UCSF Foundation where she planned a successful $1.6 billion campus-wide campaign. Early in her career at UCSF she established the planned giving program. She has a JD from the University of San Francisco School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Sociology from Whittier College in California. A California native, Kane chairs the development leadership committee for the Association of American Medical Colleges and is on the Board of Trustees at Whittier College.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, under the vibrant leadership of Music Director Gustavo Dudamel, presents an inspiring array of music from all genres - orchestral, chamber and Baroque music, organ and celebrity recitals, new music, jazz, world music and pop - at two of L.A.'s iconic venues, Walt Disney Concert Hall (www.laphil.com) and the Hollywood Bowl (www.hollywoodbowl.com). The LA Phil's season at Walt Disney Concert Hall extends from September through May, and throughout the summer at the Hollywood Bowl. With the preeminent Los Angeles Philharmonic at the foundation of its offerings, the LA Phil aims to enrich and transform lives through music, with a robust mix of artistic, education and community programs.
