The Cooperstown Summer Music Festival continues its 14th season tonight, July 29 with the award-winning Jupiter String Quartet. The 7:30 pm concert will be held in the Louis C. Jones Center at The Farmers' Museum. They will perform works by Haydn, Bartók and Mendelssohn.

The Jupiter String Quartet, formed in 2001, is a particularly intimate group, consisting of violinists Nelson Lee and Megan Freivogel, violist Liz Freivogel (older sister of Meg), and cellist Daniel McDonough (husband of Meg, brother-in-law of Liz). The Quartet concertizes across the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, and the Americas. They have enjoyed playing in some of the world's finest halls, including New York's Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, London's Wigmore Hall, Boston's Jordan Hall, Mexico City's Palacio de Bellas Artes, Washington, D.C.'s Kennedy Center and Library of Congress, and Seoul's Sejong Chamber Hall.

The Jupiters will be joining the faculty of the University of Illinois as String Quartet-in-Residence this year. In addition, they hold visiting faculty residencies at Oberlin Conservatory and Adelphi University, and will continue a multi-year residency at Atlanta's beautiful Spivey Hall.

The Cooperstown Summer Music Festival, under the artistic direction of flutist Linda Chesis, continues its 14th season with a Flute Fest (August 2), the Horszowski Trio and Linda Chesis (August 5), Pro Am Performances (August 6-8), jazz with the Tierney Sutton Band (August 12), "The Grand Tour: Vienna, Madrid & Paris" concert (August 19) and the all-Beethoven Festival Finale with the Juilliard String Quartet (August 24).

Tickets ($25 for adults, $15 for students) can be ordered online, www.CooperstownMusicFest.org, or by calling the box office service Brown Paper Tickets, 800/838-3006. Tickets will be sold at the door, as available. The Flute Fest on August 2 and ProAm performances August 6-8 are free and do not require a ticket or a reservation.
