Staff Conductor Jere Flint will lead the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO) in "Tchaikovsky Discovers America!" - part of the ASO's Family Concert Series - on Sunday, February 9, 2014, at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center.

Professional actors from Classical Kids Live! will join the ASO to create an engaging theatrical concert experience based on actual historic events from Tchaikovsky's life - from the composer's arrival in New York for the grand opening of Carnegie Hall in 1891 to his adventure-filled trip to Niagara Falls. Audiences will enjoy more than 25 excerpts of the composer's music woven into the performance.

Family Concerts are an essential first step in introducing children to the lifelong pleasures of music. A stimulating and appealing mix of original and beloved children's tales, with visual humor and award-winning dancers and actors, the series is an elixir for young minds. The final program in the Orchestra's 2013-2014 Family Concert Series is "Sounds of the Symphony" on Sunday, March 30, 2014.

Tickets are $15-$20. Additional details are available at aso.org/tchaikovsky.
