Charismatic pianist Hélène Grimaud comes to Walt Disney Concert Hall to perform an imaginative recital program on her birthday, tonight, November 7, at 8 pm. The lineup features music from her 2010 release, Resonances, which is described as a "music journey through the Austro-Hungarian empire tracing the echoes, pre-echoes and historical links between Mozart, Berg, Liszt and Bartók."

The evening begins with Mozart's Piano Sonata No. 8 in A minor, K. 310, followed by Berg's Piano Sonata, Op. 1. Next is the Piano Sonata in B minor by Liszt, the inventor of the solo recital format. The program concludes with Bartók's Romanian Folk Dances.

Hélène Grimaud regularly appears with the most important orchestras in the world, and, as an ardent and committed chamber musician, she performs regularly in the most prestigious festivals and cultural capitals with a wide range of collaborators. An exclusive Deutsche Grammophon artist since 2002, Hélène is one of DG's most important recording artists with a string of highly successful discs. Last year, she released her debut of Mozart 's Piano Concertos No. 19 and No. 23 with Kammerorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks; the disc also features a collaboration with singer Mojca Erdmann in Mozart's 'Ch'io mi scordi di te?' K. 505. Her just-released Duo, a collaboration with cellist Sol Gabetta, features the two performing works by Schumann, Brahms, Debussy and Shostakovich.

The Colburn Celebrity Recitals series for the 2012/13 season present virtuoso performances by world-renowned artists. Remaining recitals for the season are: vocalists Renée Fleming and Susan Graham (Jan. 19, 2013); pianist Yefim Bronfman (Jan. 30, 2013); violinist Itzhak Perlman (Feb. 12, 2013); pianist Yuja Wang (March 24, 2013); pianist András Schiff (April 17, 2013); and violinist Hilary Hahn (May 7, 2013).
