Principal Guest Conductor Donald Runnicles will make his first appearance this season leading the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO) March 13, 2014, at 8:00 p.m., March 15, 2014, at 7:30 p.m., and March 16, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in Atlanta Symphony Hall at the Woodruff Arts Center.

In these concerts, Mr. Runnicles will conduct three orchestral masterworks. The program will open with the "Liebestod" from Wagner's magnificent and heartbreaking opera, Tristan und Isolde. Then, Maestro Runnicles and ASO Music Director Robert Spano will enhance their creative partnership by joining forces at the piano. Mr. Runnicles and Mr. Spano will perform the ASO premiere of the two-piano version of Ravel's brilliant La valse, and a performance of the orchestral version will conclude the first half of the program.

On the second half of the program, Mr. Runnicles and Mr. Spano will perform excerpts from the four-hand piano version of Igor Stravinsky's infamous ballet, The Rite of Spring. This version of the work will also be an ASO premiere. Mr. Runnicles and the ASO will conclude the program with a complete performance of the orchestral version of The Rite of Spring - a piece that inspired a riot at its 1913 Paris premiere.

Single tickets for this performance are $24-$75. More details are available at aso.org/dynamicduo.
