Los Angeles Philharmonic Resident Conductor Lionel Bringuier leads the LA Phil at the Hollywood Bowl in two concerts of the Classical Tuesday and Classical Thursday series, Tuesday, July 31, at 8pm, and Thursday, August 2, at 8pm.

The Tuesday concert features Bowl favorite Yefim Bronfman playing Brahms’ formidable Second Piano Concerto, a four-movement symphony that touches on almost every human feeling during the course of its 50 dramatic minutes. The concert closes with Elgar’s Enigma Variations, one of that composer’s most celebrated and fascinating works. Thursday’s concert presents Renaud Capuçon, who will return to play with the LA Phil in the 2012/13 season, performing Beethoven’s Violin Concerto. The all-Beethoven concert closes with Symphony No. 7.

The 2012/13 season sees conductor Lionel Bringuier make debut appearances with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as the National Orchestra of Spain in Madrid. Additional conducting highlights include return engagements with the New York Philharmonic, the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, among many others.

This also marks Bringuier’s sixth year with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, collaborating with an institution and an artistic team to which he has shown deep affinity his entire career. During his final season here, he’ll conduct subscription performances at Walt Disney Concert Hall, concerts at the Hollywood Bowl and in the Green Umbrella contemporary music series, in addition to working with important guest conductors and Music Director Gustavo Dudamel.

Yefim Bronfman is widely regarded as one of the most talented virtuoso pianists performing today. His commanding technique and exceptional lyrical gifts have won him consistent critical acclaim and enthusiastic audiences worldwide, whether for his solo recitals, his prestigious orchestral engagements or his rapidly growing catalogue of recordings.

When the French Victoires de la Musique nominated Renaud Capuçon as “New Talent of the Year” in 2000 and an international jury named him “Rising Star of 2000,” they confirmed his place among the leading violinists of his generation. Capuçon plays a 1737 Guarneri del Gesù, the "Panette" that belonged to Isaac Stern, bought for him by the Banca Svizzera Italiana.
