Cleveland POPS Orchestra to Host RHAPSODY IN ZOO Fundraiser, 8/29

The Cleveland POPS Orchestra announces its annual fundraiser. The event, titled Rhapsody in ZOO, will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 in the new and beautiful Stillwater Place at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo.

This year, the orchestra has chosen Thomas J. Scanlon, partner and a founding member of the law firm Collins & Scanlon L.L.P., as its honoree for the event. Mr. Scanlon, a member of the Cleveland POPS Orchestra's Board of Directors and former Board Chairman, is being honored by Cleveland POPS Orchestra for his many leadership roles in Cleveland's business, civic, and cultural arts organizations. Scanlon is known for his philanthropic activities and support throughout the community.

Cleveland POPS fundraisers are considered among the most elegant held in Cleveland, "Rhapsody in ZOO is the thirteenth such event for the orchestra, noteworthy for its distinctive silent auction, entertainment, and grand dance music provided by maestro Carl Topilow and the world-renowned Cleveland POPS.

All proceeds from the 2015 "Rhapsody in ZOO" will benefit the non-profit Cleveland POPS Orchestra.

Thomas J. Scanlon is one of the founding members of Collins & Scanlon LLP. His primary practice areas include business law, real estate law, condominium law, taxation, probate, estate planning, trials and appeals law. Tom is a graduate of John Carroll University and the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law (J.D., cum laude, 1963) where he was on the board of editors of the Cleveland-Marshall Law Review. He has served on the Cleveland-Marshall Alumni Association's Board of Trustees and as president of the school's alumni association. Mr. Scanlon is known for his philanthropic activities and support. He has served on the Board of The Cleveland Pops Orchestra since 2004 and is a past Board Chairman. Other charitable affiliations include the Ancient Order of Hibernians in America, Inc., Centers for Families and Children. Collaborative to End Human Trafficking, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of America, Northern Ohio Chapter, and past Board Chairman of the West Side Ecumenical Ministry (now merged into Centers for Families and Children), to name a few.

The Cleveland POPS Orchestra has been entertaining audiences throughout greater Cleveland and Northeast Ohio for nearly two decades. They are renowned for their exciting and innovative blend of popular music, standards, Broadway, show tunes, movie scores, swing and jazz performances. Each year they perform a five concert subscription series, a holiday concert and a special New Years Eve show.
